Personality conflicts are still worth your attention as a manager, even if they aren’t legal issues. And complaints that sound trivial in isolation sometimes look different once HR sees the fourth one about the same person. Report it, and let the people with the full picture make that call.

The bottom line: Listen, document, escalate, and follow up. Those four steps handle the vast majority of complaints correctly, and they protect the employee, the company, and you.
